We have a small team going to Poland, then Leah And Nathan compete at World Championships in Baku.

The fastest addition to 2026 plans is Swiss Open in November.

European Sumo Championships 2026 (Stirling, Scotland)

Members of our club recently competed at the highest level event in Europe and made us all very proud:

  • Fiona Chan (-65kg): 1 contest against EST.
  • Leah Cozens (-80kg): 2 contests. BUL and POL. Repechage semi-final, 7th. Also in Women’s team vs Moldova and Scotland.
  • Lance Wicks (-92kg): 1 contest against HUN.
  • Sean Lai (-100kg): Win against SCO. Loss to HUN, Loss to GER. Repechage semi-final.
  • Nathaniel Thatcher (-115kg): 1 contest against Poland. Also in Men’s team vs NOR
  • Nathan Rault (+115kg): 2 contests. UKR and POL. Also in men’s team vs NOR

Happy Birthday to us!!

June 22nd marks our official 1st anniversary. This marks the day that Sonny Bell came to Southampton for the first time.

To mark the occasion, Sonny returns on Saturday June 20th 2026 to run a free workshop. As is tradition we will also be going for a meal afterwards together.

Mengkin Ragan is coming to Southampton Sumo and leading a sumo training weekend.

Although this is aimed at preparing our team going to the European Sumo Championships, we invite everyone and anyone to attend, including beginners. We will be catering to all.

Amazing sumo training workshop with Sonny Bell

It was great to host another free Sumo training workshop with our Head Coach Sonny Bell of London Sumo Club this weekend.

Great turnout and lots of hard work. All followed by an fabulous meal together afterwards.

Then on Sunday we welcomed the newly formed “South West Sumo Club” near Salisbury to the British Sumo family officially by attending their grand opening!!
